The roundwood market is constantly facing new challenges, whether due to changing market conditions, logistical hurdles or regional circumstances. Flexibility and innovative solutions are therefore crucial in order to meet the increasing demands and to organise the value chain efficiently. In this context, the Brüning Group’s roundwood unit has recently made significant progress.
After more than three months of intensive negotiations, we have succeeded in finding a new logistical solution for the roundwood unit. Large quantities of industrial oak timber are available in the Saxony-Anhalt region, which previously could not be utilised due to a lack of local sales opportunities and unsuitable transport options. Neither transport by lorry, due to the long freight distances, nor by train, due to the high costs, proved to be practicable.
By working together with the inland port of Brandenburg an der Havel, which was previously unused for roundwood, we were able to realise a new transport option. In an initial test run, a vessel was successfully loaded and delivered, which represents an important step in the logistical development of the entire Havelland region.
This success forms the basis for our future plans. We intend to load a vessel every month and rent long-term storage space in the port. In this way, we not only secure the transport of industrial oak timber, but also create sustainable structures for the transport of roundwood in the region.
This milestone also emphasises our commitment to continuous development and reacting flexibly to new circumstances. By developing new transport routes and long-term partnerships, we are ensuring that the Brüning Group will continue to be optimally positioned to meet the growing demands of the industry in the future.
