Sustainability
AT THE BRÜNING GROUP
Sustainability is an integral part of our corporate philosophy and forms the core of our business model. Guided by our principle “Enabling a greener future”, we combine environmental responsibility with economic efficiency: we ensure the sustainable supply of resources and support the entire raw materials cycle. As a reliable enabler of sustainable resource utilisation, we act in a solution-oriented, forward-thinking manner and consistently follow the principles of the circular economy.
In doing so, we adhere to the principles of cascade utilisation: raw materials are preferably used for material recycling and only utilised for energy recovery when further material use is technically or economically unfeasible. Our task is to create the conditions for this. We deliver the right materials to the right place at the right time, connect producers and users, and ensure traceability throughout the entire process. In this way, we enable efficient resource use and their return to the cycle.
Business model:
CIRCULAR ECONOMY
We create resources from residual materials, promote circular economy and thereby drive the expansion of renewable energy, the energy transition, as well as defossilisation and decarbonisation. With practical solutions and targeted advisory services, we support our partners in implementing sustainable processes and operating responsibly.
Our role
in sustainable value creation
We ensure that biomass, residual, and renewable materials are used where they generate the greatest benefit. Through intelligent logistics and utilisation solutions, we extend the life cycles of raw materials, promote reuse and recycling, and thereby lay the foundation for a functioning circular economy. In concrete terms, this means:
Efficient resource utilisation
We deliver raw materials to where they can be used in an environmentally and economically sensible manner.
Material recovery
We supply chipboard plants, sawmills, and pulp mills with production materials.
Energy recovery
Where material recycling is no longer possible, we direct materials to thermal recovery – in biomass CHP plants or industrial production facilities.
Logistics
We manage material flows and ensure supply tailored to demand thanks to our own logistics unit as well as a regional and international network.

Operating together sustainably
We understand the regulatory, technical, and economic challenges companies are facing today. That is why we develop bespoke solutions for our partners that can be implemented directly in day-to-day operations. Our approach combines:
.
- Supply concepts & logistics: tailor-made concepts for cost-efficient sourcing, continuous material flow, and reliable supply
. - Transparent documentation: ensuring compliance and traceability throughout the entire supply chain
. - Expert advise: support with regulatory requirements, certification, and verification obligations
.
Our partners benefit from more efficient processes and measurable added value.
Achieving greatness through teamwork
Sustainability also shapes the way we work. Anyone who joins us takes on a meaningful role: we combine environmental, social and economic responsibility. Our performance culture offers room for growth. We recognise talent, foster individual strengths and create structures in which initiative matters. Regular exchange ensures transparency, strengthens collaboration and creates an environment based on trust, openness and fairness. This is how sustainability shapes our day-to-day work:
- Shared values: a culture where responsible action is a given
. - Economic stability: a stable, growing company that, as a market leader in Germany, offers secure jobs and long-term prospects
. - Work-life integration: a family-friendly working environment with flexible working time models, generous lunch subsidies, sports programmes, JobRad and an Active Room for dynamic breaks
. - Impact through projects: contributing to initiatives that directly contribute to the energy transition and resource-efficient value creation
. - Training & knowledge: training programmes and individual development opportunities
.
We are shaping a modern working environment that is becoming increasingly digital, efficient, and sustainable – and we offer people the opportunity to be an active part of this development and become involved in our green mission.
Sustainability as a viable business model
Sustainable value creation requires transparency, reliable data, and a business model designed for long-term success. The Brüning Group combines economic stability with a clearly structured ESG approach – transparent, measurable, and continuous. To enable well-founded decision-making, we provide key information in a clear and structured format:
.
- ESG strategy & measures: clearly defined guidelines and concrete implementation steps
. - Figures & facts: transparent insights into impact, performance, and target achievement as a data basis for informed decisions
. - Quality and sustainability certifications: verified standards for environmental protection, quality and resource conservation, confirmed by independent certificates and awards
.
In this way, we demonstrate how we implement responsibility, document progress and create a solid foundation for sustainable business relationships.
