History
From bio(class) to biomass
From a single company to a group of companies – what a success story. Today’s Brüning Group is the result of the courage to change, a wealth of ideas and a committed team of employees. Those who, like Managing Director Arnd Brüning, dare to think further, to broaden their horizons, to motivate their employees to “do more”, manage to write this kind of history.
In the beginning there was “Bio”, which became “Biomass”, from a one-man show with a fruit and vegetable stand to a company with around 250 employees, several locations and subsidiaries. The future of the Brüning Group? To become even more diverse through the constant expansion of the portfolio, further company acquisitions, etc. – more international, more global – we continue to grow!
Strong roots
are the basis for sound growth.
We know and appreciate our roots. Despite all the growth in recent years, we do not lose sight of our core business.

1992
The sole proprietorship Arnd Brüning e. K. is founded in Fischerhude: A small nursery dedicated to the organic cultivation of fruit, vegetables and plants. This nursery quickly develops into a trade in gardening supplies such as soil conditioners (compost and bark mulch), wood residues (saw mill residues, landscape conservation material, waste wood) and wood fuels (firewood, wood chips).
2001
The sole proprietorship is converted into a limited liability company, Brüning-Euromulch Nord-Ost GmbH. Somewhat later, Brüning-Euromulch Süd-West GmbH joins the regional expansion towards the southwest.

2003
Brüning-Euromulch Nord-Ost GmbH becomes Brüning-Euromulch GmbH.
2004
Brüning-Euromulch Süd-West GmbH initially becomes RRH Rohstoff Recycling Holz GmbH, which is then transformed into the new Brüning-Megawatt GmbH.

Fischerhude
2009
A milestone
In order to better combine the transport orders of Euromulch and Megawatt and to be able to accept external logistics orders, Brüning-Logistik GmbH is also founded.
Brüning-Specials GmbH is also founded for the introduction and testing of new products such as firewood, road salt, peat, etc.
The Brüning | Gruppe is formed – Brüning-Euromulch GmbH, Brüning-Megawatt GmbH, Brüning-Logistik GmbH and Brüning-Specials GmbH.
All these LLCs come together under the umbrella of the newly founded Brüning-Holding GmbH – literally in the newly constructed office building in Fischerhude.

more momentum
The new office building is extended after only 2 years.
2011
2013
The Brüning | Gruppe decides to produce its own firewood and takes over facilities in Röbel an der Müritz for this purpose. After the modernisation of these plants, the premium firewood trade of the Brüning | Gruppe is launched with Timber MacPom.
Due to the rapidly increasing number of employees, a second extension is added to the office building in Fischerhude – the Brüning | Gruppe keeps on growing.

2014
In January, an office site is opened in Hallbergmoos near Munich in order to intensify or expand contact with customers in southern Germany. For direct contact with the Baltic Sea port in Rostock, an office will be installed in Kritzmow in the summer.
2015
Due to the increasing number of business transactions with foreign companies, Brüning International GmbH is founded.
As Denmark in particular stands out in international business, the first foreign office is opened in Copenhagen in early summer. For this purpose, Brüning Group Danmark ApS is established, which is under the umbrella of Brüning International GmbH.

2018
In spring, the Brüning | Gruppe takes over Gebrüder Meyer GmbH, based in Mölln, which fits perfectly into the company portfolio with its product range.
In addition, the Brüning | Gruppe is moving to new premises in Bremen’s Überseestadt district in the course of the year, creating another office site for the growing number of employees.
Milestones
One after another

2019
CIC Capital and PESCA Equity Partners, experienced investment companies of fast-growing medium-sized companies, acquire a significant minority stake in the Brüning | Group. Founder and CEO Arnd Brüning remains majority shareholder.
2020
Brüning Group UK Ltd. is founded after a new office site was opened in England the year before as part of the internationalisation process.
The construction of the new office building in Bremen on the former Kellogg’s site in Überseestadt is in the starting blocks.

2021
Brüning | Gruppe takes on a new shape: Brüning-Euromulch and Brüning-Megawatt merge and become Brüning Group Germany GmbH including a new corporate design.
With the takeover of Schneider Rohstoffe GmbH & Co. KG, based in Buchholz in der Nordheide, the new unit “waste paper” is launched in January.
2022
Schneider Rohstoffe GmbH & Co. KG, the company, which functions as our waste paper unit, moves its headquarters from Buchholz in der Nordheide to our office in Bremen in order to intensify cooperation with the other units.
Internationalisation progresses – Brüning Groupe France SAS is founded. Alongside Brüning Group Danmark ApS and Bruening Group UK Ltd., this is the third company to operate under the umbrella of Brüning International GmbH.
With the takeover of Interforst GmbH, based in Kirchzell, there is active support for our roundwood unit and an intensification of activities in this field is taking place.

New Office
New goals

2023
In the course of internationalisation, three new companies are founded: Brüning Group Italia Srl, Brüning Group Polska Sp. z o.o and Brüning Group Česko s.r.o. Brüning International GmbH is a 100% shareholder in each.
After 30 years in Fischerhude, the company headquarters are relocated to Bremen. The employees from Fischerhude and the former Bremen office move into the new premises in Bremen’s district Überseestadt in August.
Schneider Rohstoffe GmbH & Co. KG is merged with Brüning Group Germany GmbH. The merger is intended to dissolve demarcation issues and standardise the business orientation. This will allow synergies to be used even better.
2024
The Brüning Group is strengthening its international presence and opening a new office in Rome. This strategic decision makes it possible to further expand activities on the Italian market and intensify local partnerships.
In addition, two further companies are founded under the umbrella of Brüning International GmbH: Bruening Group Sverige AB and Brüning Group Austria GmbH.
New dual leadership in management: Christian Kuntze and Matthias Warnke each take over as COO, heading the divisions Virgin Wood and Recycling & Waste, respectively.
