Wood chips
Optimum calorific value
Every wood chip heating system requires a specific wood fuel in order to operate. Depending on the type of wood, various key properties of the wood chips can vary and thus influence the calorific value. This is particularly true particular for the water content, which influences the calorific value and storability. As for forest-fresh wood chips, for example, the water content varies between 45 and 55 %.
Thanks to a low residual moisture of less than 25 %, our wood chips are ideally suited for storage and achieve an optimal calorific value (approx. 4 kWh/kg) with a low ash content when utilised for heating. The proportion of bark also influences the calorific value. The higher that proportion, the lower the quality and thus the calorific value.
