Dried poultry manure originates from laying hen farms and is generated in barn or free-range systems. Depending on the source, both conventional and organic products are available. Drying stabilises the poultry manure and optimally prepares it for various utilisation pathways.
With its attractive cost-performance ratio, dried poultry manure is an ideal and EU RED-compliant input material for biogas plants. In addition to its energy potential, it contains relevant nutrient levels with guideline values of 15 to 20 kilograms of nitrogen and phosphate as well as 10 to 15 kilograms of potassium per tonne of fresh matter. It also provides high calcium contents of around 50 to 60 kilograms and magnesium levels of 5 to 7 kilograms per tonne of fresh matter. The biogas yield of dried poultry manure for biogas production is approximately 180 cubic metres per tonne.
As a substrate, dried poultry manure is particularly suitable for biogas production to generate renewable energy. In addition, it is used for composting and for application on agricultural land as an organic fertiliser. It therefore makes a valuable contribution to the sustainable utilisation of organic residual materials.
