SALUT RAYANE

An interview with Rayane Mokdad, our trainee in France

Salut Rayane, and welcome to the Brüning Group. You started out as an intern and have recently become our new trainee at the office in France. Please give us some insight into your journey at the Brüning Group so far.

My time at the Brüning Group has been an incredible journey filled with learning and growth. As an intern, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the company’s culture, understand its operations, and appreciate its values. The support and encouragement I received and still receive from my colleagues made it clear early on that this was a fantastic place to build my career.

What aspects of the Brüning Group specifically convinced you to continue your career with us and start your professional training here?

I was attracted by the Brüning Group’s dedication to environmental responsibility and its innovative work in recycling and biomass. The focus on creating a circular economy really resonated with me, and the company’s forward-thinking approach made me want to be part of this movement. More than that, the inclusive and supportive culture made me feel like I could truly thrive here and contribute meaningfully.

How was your transition from intern to trainee? Were there any challenges along the way, and how did you overcome them?

The transition was exciting. My month of training in Bremen last July gave me a solid foundation, and the hands-on exposure really helped me understand the company’s processes better. However, as a trainee, I had to quickly adapt to more responsibilities and higher expectations. Regular visits in Bremen afterward were essential. They allowed me to stay connected with my colleagues, learn from their expertise, and tackle challenges more confidently. Staying proactive and asking questions when I needed help was also key.

What projects are you currently working on, and what excites you most about your work?

Right now, I’m focusing on strengthening relationships with our clients in France, finding new partners, and optimizing supply chain logistics. What excites me the most is seeing how my work directly supports renewable energy and sustainable practices. Knowing that my efforts contribute to a cleaner, greener future is incredibly rewarding. Plus, collaborating with teams across Paris, Bremen, and other locations adds so much variety and perspective to my day-to-day work.

Do you already have a vision for the area you’d like to specialize in at Brüning Group in the future?

Absolutely! I’m particularly passionate about creating a sustainable market and forming strategic partnerships. I see enormous potential for Brüning Group to further solidify its position as a leader in Europe’s circular economy. My goal is to help develop innovative and efficient solutions for sourcing waste and biomass in a sustainable way.

What goals are you pursuing in your career at Brüning Group, and what are your long-term aspirations within the company?

In the short term, I want to build my expertise in business development while deepening my understanding of the recycling and biomass industries. Long term, I’d love to step into a leadership role where I can help shape strategies that drive sustainable growth for the Brüning Group globally.

How is your career and reaching those goals being supported?

The support here has been incredible. From mentoring to training programs and open communication, I have felt empowered every step of the way. The initial training in Bremen was a game-changer. It provided a solid base of knowledge, and my regular visits since then have been equally enriching. I am also fortunate to work with experienced colleagues who are always willing to share their insights.

You were in Bremen at the end of last year and are now back in Paris. What differences did you notice between Germany and France in terms of work culture, communication, and business practices?

One big difference I’ve noticed is the approach to work-life integration. In Germany, the structured and methodical way of working ensures high productivity, while in France, there’s a stronger emphasis on building interpersonal relationships. The good thing is we can find flexibility and fun in both environments. Both approaches bring unique strengths, and spending time in Bremen has taught me how to balance these styles effectively.

How does your cooperation with teams from our other locations look like?

Collaboration across locations has been a highlight of my experience. My time in Bremen helped me build strong relationships with the teams there, and regular communication through digital tools keeps us aligned and on track. I love how the diverse perspectives from different locations enrich our problem-solving and drive innovation. It really feels like we’re part of one global team.

What did you look forward to most when you returned to Paris?

I was eager to use everything I’ve learned to strengthen Brüning’s inland operations and import-export business in France. My theoretical learning and exchanges with colleagues have broadened my perspective and sharpened my skills, and I was excited to put that into practice. Building deeper relationships with clients and partners in France, while continuing to contribute to Brüning Group’s mission of sustainability, remains my top priority.

Thank you so much for your time and for sharing your experiences with us!
