BRÜNING GROUP AT IFAT MUNICH 2026

Next month sees the return of one of the year’s most important industry events: IFAT Munich 2026. From 4 to 7 May, the international environmental technology and recycling industry will be gathering at the exhibition centre in Munich – and, for the first time, the Brüning Group will be represented with its own stand. IFAT Munich is regarded as the world’s leading trade fair for environmental technologies and key driving force for the future of resource management. Every two years, it brings together international players from the water, waste, and raw materials sectors in Munich, all working on solutions for a more sustainable and efficient use of resources.

OUR FOCUS IN MUNICH

For the Brüning Group, IFAT Munich provides the ideal platform to help shape these developments and engage directly with industry participants. Our Recycling & Waste unit is at the heart of our trade fair presence. Its focus is on maintaining existing contacts and establishing new business and supply partnerships.

Matthias Warnke, COO of Recycling & Waste, explains: “The IFAT has been a very important event for us for several years now. This year, having our own stand gives it even greater significance. We consider networking to be essential. Strong partnerships are the foundation for expanding our trading volumes. It was therefore a logical step for us to launch our own stand this year. Above all, we hope to meet even more partners than we have in previous years.”

CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN PRACTICE

Our key focus areas include waste wood and commercial waste. Both products play a crucial role in a functioning circular economy. Each year, for instance, we channel around 700,000 tonnes of waste wood into material and thermal recovery. In line with the cascading principle, material recovery takes priority, for example in the production of chipboard and other wood-based materials. Where this is not possible, the material is utilised for energy generation in combined heat and power plants. Correct classification is essential for efficient further processing. Waste wood is therefore divided into four categories, ranging from A for untreated wood to D for material containing hazardous substances. This classification forms the basis for safe and sustainable recovery processes. Commercial waste is also directed to suitable recovery routes, thereby contributing to the energy supply. In waste-to-energy plants, it is converted into electricity, district heating, and steam.
