BRÜNING GROUP AND VARMEGA EXTEND FULL SUPPLY AGREEMENT BY FIVE YEARS

The Brüning Group and Varmega (formerly Vejen Varmeværk), a Danish district heating supplier, are continuing their successful long-term cooperation in the field of fuel supply: the existing full supply agreement has been extended for a further five years. In doing so, both companies reaffirm their joint commitment to security of supply, reliability, and a long-term partnership.

RELIABLE FUEL SUPPLY FOR DISTRICT HEATING IN DENMARK

The agreement covers the annual delivery of around 25,000 tonnes of sustainable, RED III-compliant landscape maintenance and forest wood chips for thermal utilisation. The materials originate predominantly from Germany, supplemented by volumes from Denmark, and are delivered on a just-in-time basis according to demand. This requires precise logistical coordination and reliable deliveries. Particularly during the winter months, when fuel demand for district heating production is at its highest, a continuous supply is essential. The contract model is based on a partnership-based open-book approach with regular market exchange. This creates transparency and enables both parties to respond flexibly to market developments.

GROWING TOGETHER SINCE 2018

The collaboration between Brüning Group and Varmega began with initial deliveries in August 2018 and quickly developed into a full supply arrangement. This means that Brüning Group assumes complete responsibility for the fuel supply of the plant in Vejen. Following the first contract phase, the cooperation was further expanded due to the positive experiences. Since then, the partnership has continued to evolve steadily and has proven its resilience even in challenging times. Kevin Sammann, Head of the Department Fresh Wood Biomass, comments on the contract extension: “For us, the contract extension is a strong sign of trust and a welcome recognition of our work. The focus is not purely on trade, but on service: processes are jointly reviewed, simplified, digitalised, and optimised. Our collaboration is characterised by open dialogue on equal footing.”

With the long-term contract extension, both partners are sending a clear signal for continuity and planning security in a dynamic market, while reaffirming their commitment to a sustainable, stable, and future-oriented fuel supply across national borders.
