From grain processing to the biogas plant
Origin
Grain chaff is generated as a by-product during the cleaning, processing and dehulling or husking of cereals. By further utilising this valuable residual material, existing resources are used efficiently and material cycles are sustainably closed.
Characteristics
Grain chaff is characterised by a high dry matter content of 80 to 90 percent as well as a proportion of small grains and broken grains. The combination of small grains and broken grains with a high dry matter content creates a high-quality biogas substrate with a gas yield of around 400 m³ per tonne. This provides you with a high-quality biogas substrate with a short retention time in the digestion process, which can be used directly without further processing.
