NEW TERMINAL IN THE PORT OF OSKARSHAMN

With the opening of a new terminal in the port of Oskarshamn, operated by Smålandshamnar AB, the Brüning Group is progressively expanding its position in the Swedish market. In this way, we are strategically expanding our logistical capacities in forest products, particularly wood chips. As an experienced port operator with a clear focus on forestry goods, Smålandshamnar AB brings the appropriate infrastructure and regional expertise to the partnership. Together, we are pursuing the goal of developing Oskarshamn into an efficient hub for the transshipment of biomass.

ALLIANCE FOR RELIABLE SUPPLY OF BIOMASS

The agreement with the Brüning Group significantly increases Smålandshamnar’s handling of wood chips. This creates new growth opportunities for the port operation and at the same time strengthens the forestry and energy sector in south-eastern Sweden. Our partnership consequently supports both the region’s economic development as well as the long-term supply security of sustainable biomass for industrial and energy customers in Europe.

BASIS FOR FURTHER GROWTH CREATED

Smålandshamnar sees great opportunities for the regional economy and port operations in this partnership: “The agreement with the Brüning Group is a strategically important step for Smålandshamnar. We are positioning ourselves strongly in a segment that is central to our business and at the same time offers great potential for long-term growth. Our geographical location offers us unique opportunities to contribute to sustainable development,” explains Niclas Strömqvist, CEO of Smålandshamnar AB. “We are continuously working to build strategically sustainable and value-adding businesses. The partnership with the Brüning Group has great potential to contribute to our further growth and strengthen the region’s economy,” Strömqvist continues.

“A new terminal in Oskarshamn is a perfect next step in our expansion in Sweden. Having direct access to a port, enables us to serve our existing and new customers in many ways,” comments Perry Mayr, Director Business Development Scandinavia.

JOINT CAPACITIES FOR EUROPE’S ENERGY FUTURE

The new terminal in Oskarshamn together with the one in the port of Varberg complements the Brüning Group’s network for effective supply in Europe. The close cooperation with Smålandshamnar is a striking example of how regional infrastructure and international partners work together in jointly enabling a greener future.
