The Brüning Group holds an enormous wealth of knowledge – spread across the many minds and units of our organisation. With this conviction, the management team launched an internal lecture series over the summer. The idea was to learn from each other by gaining new perspectives on markets, partners and projects, thereby deepening our understanding of day-to-day business and the bigger picture within the company. Under the title “Who is…?” a format was created that brought colleagues from across the Group together: to listen, to discuss, and to learn.
WHO IS…?
From May to August, our Campus transformed into a vibrant stage for knowledge transfer and exchange. Colleagues from different units delivered engaging sessions, offering insights into their work, current projects and the markets in which they operate.
We started with an absolute highlight: a visit of Borås Energi och Miljö from Sweden. Initiated by Perry Mayr from Business Development Management, the company presented the Energy & Environment Centre Sobacken – one of Scandinavia’s most modern energy projects, generating electricity, heat, and biogas with an efficiency of over 90 percent, which we reported on here back in June. As part of our lecture series, this presentation by an external partner was also a strong signal of our trusting collaboration.
Following this external impulse, Logistics took over the baton, illustrating how complex the scheduling of trucks, route plans, and drivers is – and how crucial coordination between departments is for efficient operations. Building on this insight into internal processes, the focus then shifted to the international level: under the motto “Brüning goes international”, Svenja Bätz and Marc Gaber from Business Development Management presented current projects such as the defossilisation of energy-intensive industries, strategic goals, and the importance of cooperation between our European sites. This was complemented by a report on the “Brüning Olé” project trip, during which a diverse, interdisciplinary team travelled across Spain, exploring the biomass and waste market on site, making industry contacts, and strengthening our international network.
Further lectures addressed key future topics and in-house expertise: Günter Fölting from project management outlined the potential of biochar as a contribution to decarbonisation. The marketing team presented its role within the Group, provided impetus for successful collaboration with other units and a guide to convincing presentations – a practical tool in customer communication. Rounding things off, Andreas von Geibler from roundwood purchasing explained the role of biomass certification and the risks of non-compliance using an example from the timber industry.
LEARNING TOGETHER, GROWING TOGETHER
Whether logistics, international market developments, marketing, certification, or biochar: the topics were as diverse as the Brüning Group itself and clearly demonstrated the breadth of our expertise. The response from the team? Positively across the board: the lectures fostered understanding of other units’ work, offered valuable insights into current projects, and encouraged open exchange. Our Summer School clearly showed: knowledge grows when we share it – and that makes us stronger as a company. A successful start that whets the appetite for more and perhaps marks the beginning of a new summer tradition at the Brüning Group.
