The forest as biggest biomass supplier
Trees, leaves, branches or roots – almost everything in the forest is biomass. The world’s forests are among our largest suppliers of biomass. And wood is one of the most important resources that nature offers us. Moreover, the forest is one of the best climate protectors anyway. The use of renewable energies such as biomass is a particularly important aspect of sustainability and climate protection.
For example, the energy generated by burning wood is sustainable and climate-friendly, as only as much CO2 is released here as was previously absorbed during growth through photosynthesis. Sustainable forest management thus ensures the regeneration of the forest. Additional plus: Younger forests have a higher CO2 storage capacity, which in turn benefits the climate.
