At the moment we are still in the middle of winter, but in just a few weeks spring and thus the bark season will be just around the corner. Those who plan their first orders now are definitely on the safe side, especially after the tense situation last year. Due to the lockdown, sawmills produced less, but demand had risen sharply as many turned to their home gardens due to contact restrictions, short-time work or lack of leisure time. In addition, there was again a lot of wood damaged by beetles with little bark, as the bark beetle population continued to be favoured by the mild climate.
Based on our assessment that the situation will not change so quickly for the time being, it is therefore advisable to stock up well in advance of the season. At the moment, there is still sufficient stock and there are still enough forwarding agent and freight capacities available, so that early procurement can be carried out logistically without any problems. Depending on local conditions, the good storage capacity of bark means that it is easy to stock up. If the order is received too late and the extreme delivery times of the previous year are taken into account, the spring season will have long since begun by the time the desired material is available.
