Greta Brunkhorst im Portrait in der Brüning Group

GRETA BRUNKHORST

INTERNATIONAL MARKET ANALYST

What does your perfect workday look like?

First of all, it’s not raining in the morning and I arrive at the office dry by bike. At the office itself, I don’t have a ‘typical’ workflow. My work as a market analyst consists mainly of project work. A current example: analysing a national pellet market so that we can then determine how and whether we want to position ourselves in that market. In this case, a good day for me would be when I succeed in building up an understanding of the market and thereby opening up opportunities for us.

If you could swap your job for another one for a day, which one would it be and why?

The European Commission in Brussels. I would love to take a look behind the scenes and understand how politics is done there – even at the risk of finding it sobering. Many energy and environmental policy decisions also affect us at the Brüning Group.

What do you find most exciting about the market situation right now?

In the field of biomass, it is definitely exciting to see how more and more industries across Europe are (having to) rely on biogenic fuels as energy sources. This opens up new customer groups for us, while at the same time giving the entire industry greater visibility and relevance.

Is there a talent that you have discovered through your work here that you didn’t know about before?

It often occurs that in a single working day, I deal with several countries and industries in which the Brüning Group operates. This means that I have to switch quickly between markets, customer or supplier groups as well as product groups. I believe I manage this quite well – however, it is also genuinely enjoyable because it makes the work so versatile.

Which project or task has excited you the most so far?

Our project trip to Spain was definitely a highlight. We were able to gather information about this market, which was still quite unknown to us, and make valuable contacts for our international network. At the same time, it was simply a great opportunity to get to know the other Brüning colleagues on the trip better – after all, I haven’t been with the company that long.
